Send your first campaign
Write an email, choose who gets it, send yourself a test, then send it now or schedule it for later.
Who can do this: Workspace owners, admins and marketers.
Before you start
- A verified sender (see "Set up your sender and domain").
- Some contacts (see "Import your contacts").
Steps
Step 1: Start a campaign
Go to Campaigns and click New Campaign. The campaign has five steps: Details, Content, Audience, Schedule and Review. Your work is saved as a draft as you go.
Start a campaignStep 2: Fill in the details
Give the campaign a name (only your team sees it), write the Subject line people will see in their inbox, and add Preview text, the short line shown next to the subject. To send from someone other than your default sender, open Advanced and choose the From address. Click Continue.
Step 3: Choose the content
Pick where your email starts: one of Your templates, one of the Starter templates, or Start from scratch, which opens an empty email in the editor. When you are done editing, use the "Back to campaign" link to return. Click Continue.
Step 4: Pick your audience
Choose Use A Saved Audience, or Build One by choosing who should get this email, such as the people on a list or in a segment. Only subscribed contacts are counted. People who unsubscribed or are on your suppression list never receive it. Click Continue.
Step 5: Choose when it goes out
Pick Send immediately, or Schedule for later and choose a date and time. Click Continue.
Step 6: Review and send yourself a test
The Review step shows a "Ready to send" checklist. Fix anything it flags. Under "Send yourself a test", enter your own address to get the exact email in your inbox before anyone else does.
Step 7: Send it
Click Send Now, or Schedule Campaign if you picked a time. Sending happens in the background. Opens and clicks appear on the campaign and in Analytics as they come in.
Good to know
- Send Now stays greyed out until everything on the checklist is done.
- A test email does not count toward your campaign results and does not touch your audience.
